I don’t know if you have noticed that
there is magnesium sulfate in the ingredient list of many mineral waters. Some
people are beginning to worry about what magnesium sulfate is and whether it is
harmful to the human body. Why do mineral waters need to be added? What about
magnesium sulfate?
Magnesium sulfate is mainly used as a
supplement for magnesium in mineral water. Magnesium is an indispensable factor
in the human body to participate in the process of bone formation and muscle
contraction. It is an activator of multiple enzymes in the human body, and
plays an extremely important role in the metabolism of the human body and nerve
function. If the human body lacks magnesium, it will cause material metabolism
and neurological disorders, supply imbalance, affect human growth and
development, and even lead to death.
Magnesium sulfate is generally
colorless columnar or needle-like fine crystals, with a cool, salty and bitter
taste, odorless, and a density of 2.65g/cm3. It is stable in humid air below
48°C and easily weathered in warm air. It is very soluble in water (119.8%,
20°C) and glycerin. The aqueous solution is neutral and slightly soluble in
ethanol. In food, it is mainly used as nutritional supplements, curing agents,
flavor enhancers, and processing aids. Additives for brewing, supplementing the
magnesium in brewing water, as a nutrient source during fermentation, improving
fermentation capacity; improving the flavor of synthetic sake (0.002%);
adjusting the hardness of water. Magnesium sulfate should be stored in a dry,
ventilated and clean warehouse to prevent rain and moisture, and should be
stacked separately from toxic materials.
