This is the first rule of putting on weight. We're not talking about muscle in particular, but just weight, including muscle and fat. It's essentially the reverse of how you lose weight, that is losing more calories than you're taking in. It obviously isn't as simple as this with many men claiming to "eat all day" and still not be able to grow muscle on their body when they're working out. If that's happening, then something else must be wrong. At any rate, to know how many calories you have to take in, you have to take your current body weight, gender, fat percentage and goal you wish to reach with your body into consideration.
