Massive Solar
We cannot live without electricity in our homes yet other people in other parts of the globe lack cannot access electricity in their homes. Those who have access to this essential commodity consume more than 3,500 KWh on average each year but people living in developed countries consume the bulk of the world’s electricity supply. The discrepancy in electricity consumption stems from the fact that there is unequal distribution of energy resources between countries.
- Net Metering
This new model of paying for electricity takes into account the fact that you can generate your own electricity at certain times of the day. The meter you use to determine your electricity consumption from grid power supply is also the meter that determines your electricity consumption from solar power generation. In this way, you will only pay for the difference between grid power supply and solar energy generation hence the name net metering. As you can see, your electricity bill will no longer be as high as it used to be. Homeowners as well as business owners should install solar panels on their premises and bi-directional meters so that they can take advantage of net metering.
- Environmental Concerns
Energy is a local issue as well as a national issue. People can no longer afford to use non-renewable sources of energy because greenhouses gases from these energy sources are altering the structure of our atmosphere. Global temperatures are rising, ice caps are melting, sea levels are rising and rainfall patterns are becoming unpredictable. Solar power can solve all of these problems. For example, a single kilowatt solar energy system eliminates the use of 170 pounds of coal for electricity generation and saves more than one hundred and five gallons of water every month. It also prevents the release of 300 pounds of carbon dioxide each month.
