Hypnosis is a trance induced state. It can be used in therapy to allow a modification of a behaviour. Trance is about learning how to go into trance. You actually put yourself into trance. I just become the facilitator. It’s not about being “zonked out”, it is a normal, natural state, however you will feel increasing levels of relaxation. It’s not about willpower! Willpower is a function of the conscious mind, whereas the subconscious mind is basically influenced by imagination. It’s a questions of your willingness to be receptive and responsive to ideas, and to allow these ideas to act upon you without interference. Through relaxation and distraction of the conscious mind, access to the subconscious through imagination is achieved. And this produces the ability to experience thoughts and images as real. And allowing the subconscious to receive and accept suggestions. You are in control and you will not do anything you find objectionable. |
