As a part of Greater Western Sydney, 23 kilometres west of Sydney is Parramatta. Founded in 1788, it is the economic capital of its region, and has an incredible business and commercial centre, including the Westfield Parramatta which is the 9th largest shopping centre in Australia!
Church Street is where you’ll find all of the action in Parramatta, including Coco Cubano! On the southern end of the street are a collection of Chinese restaurants, and the northern end is occupied by some of the best restaurants with al fresco dining in Parramatta.
As you move from Church Street, which has over 140 restaurants, perhaps you would like to walk off the energy from your churros and enjoy the sights that the city has to offer. Parramatta River runs through the city and into Parramatta Park. The park contains a whole host of different historical buildings, as it was once the capital of New South Wales.
There’s also a natural amphitheatre at one of the bends of the river, and is often used for concerts. If you consider yourself to be an avid bird watcher, then you will not want to miss coming to Parramatta Park, as over 120 bird species have been seen there!
Several cottages of historic notable people can also be found at the park, so you are destined to make some interesting discoveries while walking around.
If you come back into city centre, check out Parramatta Square which will be sure to get a boost from recent developments with a fresh cultural and arts centre. And honestly anytime is a great time to visit for all the shopping, pubs, cafes, and restaurants in Parramatta, to the festivals that happen almost every month. So come to Parramatta and you will certainly enjoy your experience!
