Different types of PCB boards
According to different application scenarios and product complexity, different types of circuit boards need to be used in different projects. You need to know what type of PCB your project needs before designing. FS Tech will introduce all kinds of PCBs to you in response to these problems.
Usually our circuit boards are made of epoxy or other composite materials. They can be rigid or flexible like light pipes. It is primarily by physically supporting components, connecting them electrically to form real-time circuits.
In a sense, a PCB is composed of a thin layer of insulating material and a layer of copper foil, which are co-laminated to an underlying substrate (usually made of epoxy, fiberglass, or a similar composite). FS Technology can produce PCBs with various layer counts depending on your application, the lines or circuit traces on the PCB are created with the help of chemical etching. These lines help the flow of electricity and connect the various components together.
Introduction of different types of circuit boards
Multilayer PCB
According to the number of layers of the circuit board, it can be divided into single-layer, double-layer and multi-layer circuit boards. As the number of layers increases, the difficulty of PCB manufacturing also increases. Generally, a professional turnkey PCB assembly manufacturing company like FS Technology can produce circuit boards with less than 50 layers. For some electronics enthusiasts, they prefer single-layer fabrication.
The reason why turnkey PCB manufacturing companies are keen on the manufacture of multi-layer boards is that the insulating material in the middle of the board can act as a medium, in addition, these insulating materials can be regarded as the spacer in the middle of the multi-layer printed circuit board.
Unlike double-sided boards, multi-layer PCBs can save space for your project to the greatest extent possible. FS Technology, as a leader in China's PCB manufacturing industry, our multi-layer boards can be customized, no matter your needs are 4-layer, 6-layer, 8-layer or more layers of circuit boards. As the number of layers increases, so does its manufacturing difficulty and price. Most of the customers who order multilayer boards from FS Technology are from computers, medical machines, smartphones and servers. Multilayer boards are excellent in these areas.
When our project is very complex, FS Technology recommends you to use multi-layer circuit, these circuit boards with 4 or more layers are very friendly to your project. When you use multilayer wiring, you get the following benefits:
- Smaller footprint
- Fewer wiring harnesses
- overall weight reduction
Single layer PCB
A single-layer board is a simple circuit board made of a single-layer substrate or substrate. Usually FS Technology will apply a thin layer of metal on one side of the substrate. Since the design process of the 1-layer circuit board is relatively simple, many technology enthusiasts will design this simple circuit board by themselves, and then make it into an exclusive PCB business card.
Double layer PCB
A double-sided circuit board is a board that includes connecting lines on both sides of the circuit board. In order to meet the customer's requirements and deliver the product in a short time, FS Technology uses through-hole or surface mount (SMT) to design the customer's board. This circuit board is completed when we apply copper or other conductive material to both sides of the board. Its main advantage is to increase the flexibility of the board.
Rigid PCB
In addition to being classified according to the number of layers, circuit boards can also be classified according to their degree of hardness and material. FS Technology can not only produce circuit boards with different layers and sides, but also rigid boards. The biggest feature of these boards is that they are sturdy, they don't bend like flexible circuit boards. The price of rigid printed circuit boards is relatively cheaper, and its advantage is that it is extremely hard. Of course, because of this feature, its damage is irreversible. The substrate material of this circuit board is glass fiber, epoxy resin, etc. The most common rigid circuit in computers is the green board, which is the product of assembling a rigid PCB bare board and PCB components. FS Technology sees this board as a more cost-effective solution, for us it can be produced by full automation, so it is suitable for them to be easily mass produced.
Flexible PCB Printed Circuit Board
It can be understood from the literal meaning that rigid and flexible PCBs are completely opposite boards. Flexible circuit boards are made of flexible substrate materials, the most common being plastic. If you need a flexible circuit board for your project, FS Technology will recommend you to choose it. Because of its flexibility, it can adapt to any complex environment. It is the same as the rigid board, which can build a multi-layer circuit structure, but its price is more expensive. This board can eliminate the need for additional connectors for your project, which will maximize your overall production cost savings.
